Lana Shumway — Founder & Principal Designer
Lana Shumway has always believed that the spaces we live in shape the people we become. A home that's considered, layered, and genuinely beautiful changes how you feel when you walk through the door — and that matters.
As the founder and principal designer of Indigo Design, Lana brings that conviction to every project. Based in Gilbert, Arizona, she works with clients across the Phoenix East Valley and beyond, designing spaces that balance warmth with intention, and beauty with function.
Her aesthetic draws from a deep love of natural materials — aged oak, linen, wool, brass, glazed ceramic — and from designers whose work has stood the test of time. She is particularly inspired by the livable luxury of McGee & Co, the quiet sophistication of Nate Berkus, and the timeless elegance of Jean Stouffer Design. But every project Lana touches is unmistakably its own — shaped entirely by the family who lives there.
Lana founded Indigo Design in 2025 with a clear conviction: that beautiful, well-designed spaces should feel personal, not performative. Her clients describe working with her as surprisingly easy — she listens deeply, communicates clearly, and has an uncommon ability to articulate what her clients didn't know they wanted until they see it.
A room should feel like an embrace. Every decision — material, colour, light — should serve that feeling.
If it doesn't work for how you live, it isn't beautiful. The best design is invisible because it just fits.
Trends fade. Natural materials, considered proportion, and honest craft only get better with time.
Lana doesn't design for portfolios — she designs for the people who will wake up in the space every morning.
"Lana has an extraordinary ability to hear what you're not saying — and then design exactly that."— Jennifer R., Chandler AZ
